Eben Sadie wordt gerekend tot de pioniers in de Zuid-Afrikaanse wijnbouw. Door zijn inzicht kan gezegd worden, dat de regio Swartland in een geheel ander daglicht kwam te staan. Het was Eben, die hier de oudere wijngaarden vond en er zijn befaamde Columella en Palladius maakte.

A dry mild winter caused an early budburst, but fortunately there was no frost damage during the cool spring to reduce production. Very healthy grapes were picked on 6 th October in perfect weather, warm but not hot, providing excellent fenolic maturation and great sugar-acidity balance.
